Tyler, The Creator On Why He Couldn’t Miss Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Pop Out’ Concert: ‘I Am A L.A. Baby… You Think I’m Not About To Pull Up?’
Tyler, the Creator is making it perfectly clear: there was no way he was skipping Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out concert in L.A. last summer.
If you recall, fresh off his headline-making rap feud with Drake, Kendrick brought out some of Los Angeles’ biggest stars for a Juneteenth show, where he famously performed his Drake diss track, Not Like Us, five times in a row. Icons like Dr. Dre and YG took the stage, as did Tyler, who recently shared with Hot 97 why he had to be there.

“I’m an L.A. baby, down. A lot of folks don’t know that, I’m from Hawthorne, in Inglewood, California,” Tyler said. “Are you crazy? You think I’m not ‘bout to pull up? And Kendrick and Dave [Free], them my boys. Of course Imma pop out.”
Tyler also took a moment to reflect on the concert, praising Kendrick for spotlighting the beauty of L.A., including bringing out local legend Tommy the Clown, known for his community work and for keeping young boys off the streets through dance.
While Tyler didn’t directly address whether his relationship with Drake influenced his appearance, he made it no secret that his loyalties lay with Kendrick.
What are your thoughts on Tyler’s explanation?
