Lizzo Talks Being A ‘Smaller Version’ Of Herself: ‘I Like How I Look Now’
Lizzo is opening up about her body, saying she’s feeling good about how she looks these days.
“I like how I look now. I still think I’m big. I’m still wearing plus-size clothing. I have the same rolls. I got the same belly, the same thighs — I think I’m just a smaller version,” she told Women’s Health UK amid her weight release journey.
She added that her version of Body Positivity includes embracing change:
“Body positivity has nothing to do with staying the same. Body positivity is the radical act of daring to exist loudly and proudly in a society that told you you shouldn’t exist.”
Lizzo also reflected on how her self-love has been judged:
“Me saying I love myself in 2016 was offensive to people… How dare you love yourself! You are fat and Black and you’re a woman, so you shouldn’t love yourself… I had to fight for that.”
And now, she’s still fighting:
“It’s OK to release weight. It’s OK to gain weight after you’ve released weight, because what you’re not going to do is shame me if my body changes again and I get bigger.”
