Donald Trump Reportedly Moved Portraits Of Barack Obama & Other Former Presidents From White House Entryway To Secluded Staircase
Barack Obama’s portrait is no longer hanging at the entryway of the White House. Instead, it’s at the top of the Grand Staircase that only the first family and staff can access, insiders told CNN.
The alleged move, which was reportedly under the order of Donald Trump, is significant as thousands of White House visitors used to be able to see Obama’s portrait each day. Now, only those with access to the Grand Staircase (the first family, Secret Service and an exclusive number of White House staff) will be able to view the portrait. Visitors will no longer be able to see it due to its new secluded location.
Interestingly enough, portraits of former presidents George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush have also reportedly been moved.
Trump, who is said to have a say over all decor in the White House, has been known to have tensions with all three former Presidents.
In April, Obama’s portrait was moved from the Grand Foyer and replaced with a photo of Trump surviving an attempted assassination on his life.
It’s not clear how long the portraits of Obama and the Bushes will stay at their current location, as White House guidelines say portraits of former presidents must remain in highly-visible areas where guests and visitors can enjoy them.
