Cardi B Takes The Stand In Ongoing Assault Trial, Denies Spitting On Or Scratching Former Hospital Security Guard: ‘It Didn’t Get Physical’

Cardi B gave her testimony this week in her ongoing civil assault case, doubling down on her claim that things never got physical during her 2018 run-in with a hospital security guard.

The Grammy-winning rapper is being sued by Emani Ellis, who alleges Cardi verbally and physically assaulted her during a visit to a Beverly Hills medical building while pregnant with her eldest child, Kulture.

Cardi told the court the two were “chest-to-chest,” but insisted there was no contact beyond a heated verbal exchange after she noticed Ellis filming her. She stated: “She didn’t hit me. I didn’t hit her. There was no touch. So to me, it wasn’t no incident.”

When asked if there was any spitting, Cardi responded, “Absolutely not,” giving similar answers when asked whether she spat on Ellis directly or used the n-word, reiterating that things “didn’t get physical at all.”

She reportedly also claimed her legal team couldn’t find any surveillance footage of the alleged incident. She added that the encounter lasted less than a minute before staff stepped in, and stressed how vulnerable she felt being pregnant and significantly smaller than Ellis.

Her testimony comes a day after Ellis took the stand, accusing Cardi of hurling racial slurs, body-shaming, spitting on, and scratching her during the incident. She’s suing the rap star for assault and an undisclosed amount in damages.
