A$AP Rocky Hit w/ $1.1 Million Lawsuit After Flood Allegedly Destroys Neighbor’s NYC Condo
#ASAPRocky is facing a $1.1 million lawsuit after a contractor allegedly caused a “catastrophic” flood in the rapper’s $11 million New York City condo, leaving his downstairs neighbor’s home “completely uninhabitable.”
According to court documents obtained by The Independent, the incident occurred last December and was attributed to “negligence of the putative owner of Unit 5N, Rakim Athelaston Mayers (aka A$AP Rocky),” and contractor ADE Pro Painting. The $6.5 million apartment below reportedly suffered severe damage to its “fixtures, furnishings and improvements,” along with personal property losses.
The complaint details that “several hot water pipes in and around Unit 5N… burst,” causing water to “cascade from Unit 5N into and around Unit 4NF below.” A third-party contractor later determined that radiator supply valves had been left closed and no return valves had been installed, which allegedly led to the flooding. The residents of the damaged unit have since spent about $200,000 on temporary housing, and the suit claims the apartment’s “ceilings, walls, floors and electrical circuitry had to be torn apart and replaced,” yet the space “remains uninhabitable.”
Plaintiffs are reportedly seeking at least $900,000 in damages, plus an additional $200,000 from the condo board and $42,000 for remediation. Rocky was previously sued in 2016 by a former landlord for allegedly leaving a #Manhattan rental in “a generally filthy state.”
