Diddy’s Team Pushes Back On 50 Cent’s “Sean Combs: The Reckoning,” Documentary, Says Never-Before-Seen Footage Was Used Without Authorization

#Diddy’s team appears to be asking the same question as many others: how did 50 Cent get access to that never-before-seen footage for Sean Combs: The Reckoning.

This morning (Dec. 1), more from the highly anticipated docuseries, set to hit Netflix tomorrow, was teased online. The latest clips reveal never-before-seen footage of Diddy in the days leading up to his arrest last September. One scene shows him strategizing with his legal team, while another features him greeting fans in Harlem and saying, “I gotta take a bath,” once the encounter wraps. Speaking on the rare behind-the-scenes moments, executive producer #50Cent said to Robin Roberts, “It was surprising that he actually filmed it.”

Reps for Diddy responded to the clips via the New York Times, saying his legal team was “deeply concerned” that the series is set to include unauthorized footage, including “private moments, pre-indictment material from an unfinished project, and conversations involving legal strategy.” The statement continued, “None of this was obtained from Sean Combs or his team, and its inclusion raises very serious questions about how this material was accessed and why #Netflix chose to use it,” adding that Diddy’s lawyers have been in contact with the streaming giant.
