Trey Songz Arrested After Allegedly Punching NYC Nightclub Employee, Then Damaging Manhattan Restaurant Hours Later
Trey Songz was arrested earlier this month after prosecutors say he punched a New York City nightclub employee in the face during a late-night incident in Times Square.
According to prosecutors, Songz and his friends were partying at Dramma Night Club around 4 a.m. on Dec. 4 when a worker told them the venue was closing. Authorities claim the group “became needlessly irate,” and allege the 41-year-old singer struck the employee, causing swelling and “substantial pain.”
The R&B singer appeared in Manhattan criminal court on Sunday, where he was arraigned on an assault charge tied to the alleged nightclub altercation. He was also hit with a second-degree criminal mischief charge connected to a separate incident that allegedly occurred later that same morning at Mira, a Manhattan restaurant and hookah lounge.
Prosecutors claim Songz caused roughly $1,500 in damage at Mira, including broken hookahs, DJ equipment, and sofas. The employee from Dramma Night Club was granted an order of protection against Songz, who prosecutors described as a regular at the venue.
Songz, born Tremaine Neverson, left court wearing a hood pulled over his face and declined to comment. A judge granted him supervised release, citing his prior run-ins with the law, and ordered him to return to court on Feb. 18.
