Amber Rose Says Friend Nicki Minaj Telling Boys ‘It’s Okay, Be Boys’ Doesn’t Mean She Hates The LGBTQ+ Community: ‘She Didn’t Say Anything Wrong’ Boost
AmberRose isn’t taking Nicki Minaj off her playlist anytime soon.
Amid the backlash #NickiMinaj has faced following her appearance at AmericaFest, the annual convention hosted by Turning Point USA, Amber Rose is standing by the rapper. Speaking with TMZ, Amber praised Nicki, saying she “did a great job” during her conversation with Erika Kirk. “We live in a free country; she has the right to her own political opinion,” Amber added.
Many of Nicki’s fans, however, disagreed, criticizing her support for President #Trump and VP #JDVance. She also drew attention for remarks made during the event, telling the audience, “Boys, be boys. It’s okay, be boys. There’s nothing wrong with being a boy. …Boys will be boys, and there’s nothing wrong with that.”
When asked about the reaction from Nicki’s largely LGBTQ+ fanbase, Amber defended her, saying, “She didn’t say anything wrong, she didn’t say anything about the LGBTQ+ community at all.” Addressing concerns about the Trump administration, Amber added, “Why do people think that anybody over there is homophobic? I’m not homophobic…I have a bunch of trans friends, and so does Nicki. I don’t know why people twist our words or think that because we endorse Trump, we hate trans people or gay people. It’s just not true.” While Nicki hasn’t directly responded to the backlash, she has shared photos from the event and aboard a private jet, signaling she’s unfazed by the criticism.
