Nicki Minaj Says She Gets Trump Because They’ve Both Been “Bullied” — And That’s Why She’s Team Trump Now
Nicki Minaj is opening up about why she’s aligned herself with Donald Trump — and she says it has nothing to do with policy.
In an interview with podcaster Katie Miller, Minaj said she relates to Trump because she believes they’ve both been “bullied” in the public eye. “When I saw how he was being treated over and over and over, I just couldn’t handle it,” she explained, describing what she viewed as relentless attacks against him.
Minaj said watching Trump face criticism reminded her of her own experiences in the music industry. “I felt that same… a lot of that bullying in this man’s campaign, and all of the lying,” she said, adding that she didn’t think he deserved it.
She was clear that her support wasn’t rooted in politics. According to Minaj, it was the personal aspect — the feeling of being targeted — that pushed her to speak up. “It made me think, ‘I can’t do this anymore,’” she told the outlet, explaining why she felt compelled to get involved.
The rapper also suggested she’s long felt a pull toward something beyond music, saying she believed she had a “second job” to do — and that seeing Trump’s treatment helped crystallize that feeling.
Minaj’s comments have sparked immediate debate online, with fans split over her reasoning — but she made it clear she’s standing by her perspective and speaking from personal experience, not political allegiance.
