Paige Hurd Hilariously Reveals Why She Stopped Using New York Accent For “Power Book II: Ghost” Role
It’s important to be honest with yourself.?
While chatting with her former Power Book II: Ghost co-stars Michael Rainey Jr. and Gianni Paolo, #PaigeHurd candidly revealed why her character’s voice sounded a little different as the series progressed.
Paige, who played Lauren Baldwin for three seasons of the #Power spin-off, shared that she auditioned using a New York accent and felt she had to keep it up once she landed the role. Eventually, she realized the dialect just wasn’t convincing.
“It was just bad,” Paige said as Michael and Gianni laughed. “Overtime I just stopped it and nobody ever – nobody caught it.” While Gianni admitted he never noticed, Michael tried to reassure her, saying, “it wasn’t bad though.” Paige wasn’t convinced and quickly fired back, “Now go back and watch it and you’e going to crack up laughing cause it’s actually not that great.” Ghost premiered in 2020 and ran for four seasons before concluding in 2024.
Power universe fans, be honest, was the accent bad? Or did you not notice like Gianni? ??
