Tory Lanez’s Last-Ditch Appeal Rejected As California Supreme Court Upholds 10-Year Prison Term
The California Supreme Court has declined to take up Tory Lanez’s appeal, leaving his 10-year prison sentence firmly in place. The decision lets stand a prior ruling from the California 2nd District Court of Appeal that upheld his felony convictions tied to the 2020 sh**ting of Megan Thee Stallion.
A Los Angeles jury found Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, guilty in December 2022 of a$$ault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. He was sentenced in August 2023.
In a detailed opinion, the appellate court said there was “more than sufficient” evidence supporting the jury’s conclusion that Peterson personally inflicted great bodily injury on Megan Pete.
Megan testified that he sh*t her on July 12, 2020, telling jurors she had “no doubt” he pulled the trigger and later offered her $1 million to stay quiet. She recalled him shouting, “dance, b***h.” She also admitted she initially “didn’t want to be a snitch” but later chose to “defend my name.”
