Jay-Z Says He Was ‘Heartbroken’ Over S3xual A$$ault Allegations & Lawsuit: That Sh*t Took A Lot Out Of Me

Jay-Z didn’t hold back in his latest interview.

The rap mogul opened up during his newly published GQ cover story, addressing the s3xual a$$ault allegations and lawsuit he previously faced. “It was hard. Really hard. I was heartbroken,” he admitted, adding, “We’re in a space now where it’s almost like consequence is not thought about enough. Because everything is so instant, you know what I’m saying?”

As previously reported, a woman represented by attorney #TonyBuzbee accused Jay-Z in 2024 of s3xually a$$aulting her at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party back in 2000, when she was a teenager. Jay-Z quickly denied the claims, and his legal team soon pointed out several inconsistencies in her story. By February 2025, the case was voluntarily dismissed with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled, and notably, there was no settlement. Still, the situation brought intense public scrutiny on #JayZ and his family.

Reflecting on the emotional toll, he shared, “That whole [lawsuit thing], that s—t took a lot out of me. I was angry. I haven’t been that angry in a long time, uncontrollable anger.” He went on to emphasize how seriously he takes such accusations, saying, “You don’t put that on someone—that’s a thing that you better be super sure.” Jay highlighted that he comes from an era where “There was a line: no women, no kids. …We lived and died by that. So it’s strict for me, like it meant a lot to me.” Adding that he stood firm in his truth, Jay said, “I knew that we were going to walk through that because… it’s not true. And the truth, at the end of the day, still reigns supreme.”
