[UPDATE] Morris Day & The Time NOT Performing At Trump’s “Great American State Fair” + Young MC Exits Lineup Amid Backlash, Says ‘Artists Were Never Told About Any Political Involvement

Didn’t take long for artists to start dropping off the upcoming Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C.

Just hours after the lineup was revealed, #MorrisDay shut things down quickly, letting fans know he and The Time won’t be showing up. He kept it short and blunt on IG, writing, “It’s a no for me.” It’s still unclear whether the group pulled out after seeing the announcement or if they were never officially locked in to begin with.

Young MC wasn’t far behind, also confirming he’s out and raising concerns about the event’s political ties. He said artists were never told about any political involvement when they agreed to participate, noting that while organizers are calling it nonpartisan, it’s been labeled elsewhere as “Trump-backed.” He added he’d still love to return to D.C. down the line — just without the controversy.

As of now, the rest of the “Freedom 250” concert series lineup, including #FloRida, Vanilla Ice, and The Commodores, is still expected to perform.
