Serena Williams Is Reportedly Coming Out Of Retirement Nearly 4 Years After Stepping Away
Serena Williams may be ready to step back onto the tennis court.
The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion is reportedly planning a return at Queen’s Club next month, with reports claiming she has requested a women’s doubles wild card. She is said to be eyeing a partnership with Canadian tennis player Victoria Mboko, who is 19 and ranked among the sport’s rising stars.
The possible comeback would come more than three years after Serena last played professionally at the 2022 U.S. Open. While she previously described her exit from tennis as “evolving away” rather than a hard retirement, she also denied comeback rumors last year after speculation grew around her return to the anti-doping testing pool.
Former tennis star Andy Roddick has added fuel to the conversation, suggesting Serena’s best chance at a major comeback moment could be on grass at Wimbledon.
Neither Serena nor tournament officials appear to have publicly confirmed the return yet.
