LisaRaye Says Authorities Tried To Keep Her Involved In Ex-Husband Michael Misick’s Legal Case
LisaRaye McCoy is opening up about the legal saga involving her ex-husband, former Turks and Caicos Premier Michael Misick.
During a recent conversation with Carlos King, the actress said authorities attempted to keep her involved in investigations surrounding Misick for years following their marriage. However, LisaRaye maintained that she had no involvement in running the country or any governmental affairs during her time as First Lady of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
According to LisaRaye, her role was focused on promoting tourism and bringing positive attention to the islands through her platform as a Hollywood actress. She explained that she used her celebrity status to help increase visibility for the destination, rather than participating in political decision-making.
The actress also reflected on the lengthy legal issues that followed Misick after their split. She noted that there was a period when he was placed on house arrest and recalled that he spent time in Brazil after leaving the Turks and Caicos Islands. LisaRaye referenced the years-long nature of the case while discussing how often her name became connected to developments involving her former husband.
Misick, who served as premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands, was recently sentenced to more than four years in prison in a corruption case that has been ongoing for years. The sentencing has renewed public interest in his past relationship with LisaRaye, whom he married in 2006 before their divorce in 2008.
While discussing the matter, LisaRaye emphasized that she should not be viewed as someone who played a role in governing the country, reiterating that her responsibilities centered on tourism, public appearances and representing the islands on the international stage.
