Lil Uzi Vert Accuses Rehab Worker Of Secretly Recording Treatment Session & Sharing It Outside Facility-Clips Allegedly Surfaced Online

Lil Uzi Vert is taking legal action after allegedly learning that one of their private rehab therapy sessions had been recorded and later spread online.

According to legal documents obtained by PEOPLE, the rapper, born Symere Bysil Woods, sued Oro House Recovery Centers’ Acadia Malibu, employee Lynn Tumpa, and Tumpa’s minor nephew in June 2024. Woods, who uses they/them pronouns, claims they entered rehab in February 2022 and took part in weekly group and individual therapy while working toward sobriety.

In the lawsuit, Woods alleges Tumpa “secretly and illegally recorded a segment of her session with Woods” before sharing the clip with her teenage nephew. The video later circulated on X in February 2024 and Instagram in April 2024. Their attorneys allege “Tumpa was the source and disseminated the Video online, either directly or indirectly.

Woods is seeking compensatory, punitive, and statutory damages. On June 23, a Los Angeles County court denied the defendants’ request to force Woods to be deposed in California.

The Court reached the right decision here,” Woods’ attorney, David Moreno, told PEOPLE. “We look forward to taking this case to trial.
