R. Kelly Asks President Trump To Commute His 30-Year Prison Sentence For S3x Abuse
R&B singer R. Kelly has formally petitioned President Trump to commute his 30-year federal prison sentence.
According to reports, his attorneys submitted the request to the Justice Department’s Office of the Pardon Attorney earlier this year — a request currently listed as “pending.” #RKelly is serving time after being convicted of s3x trafficking and racketeering in a 2021 New York trial and child pornography charges in a 2022 Chicago case; he’s currently held in a North Carolina facility. This latest release bid follows a 2025 effort by his legal team, which claimed federal authorities had tried to intercept his mail to pressure witnesses and even recruited a white supremacist inmate to k!ll him behind bars. Barring a commutation, Kelly isn’t due for release until 2045, when he would be nearly 79.
