#Mattel unveiled the Barbie Signature Whitney Houston Doll on Aug. 9 — what would have been the late singer’s 63rd birthday — honoring her chart-topping career and lasting influence on generations of artists. Developed with #PatHouston, Whitney’s sister-in-law and executor of her estate, the collectible recreates the singer’s look from the 1987 “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” video, complete with a microphone stand. Pat revealed the concept dates back roughly two decades, when talks first began around modeling a doll after Whitney’s look in 1992’s The Bodyguard, and said she’s proud to see the tribute finally realized as a lasting celebration of the superstar’s voice and legacy.
