[VIDEO] American Idol Alum & Wilhemina Model Joanne Borgella Announces Cancer Diagnosis

Sad news. Joanne Borgella ‘American Idol’ and plus size model for Wilhemina revealed that she has cancer. In a message posted on her Facebook page, the 31-year-old shared that she has been diagnosed with cancer two weeks ago. Borgella appeared on season seven of ‘American Idol’  placing in the top 12 and NUVO TV’s ‘Curvy Girls’. In  a video message, she explained:

It’s been crazy. It’s very unexpected. I’m 31-years-old. I go to the doctor — I’ve gotten checkups, it’s a rare case because it has spread to my chest.Many people have asked me and I have told loved ones already and friends what stage am I on its really not about a stage cause god is with me and I feel his presence everyday.

She continued:

I just wanted to share this information with everyone, to let them know what I’m going through…I’m going to update everyone every week as much as I can. I feel good knowing that god is with me. Everything happens for a reason and I believe this was part of my journey in life. And I went through it with my mother and she’s a winner. And I ask everyone to just pray for me, because the power of prayer truly, truly does work.
