[VIDEO] Mo’Nique Says There’s Beauty In Janay Rice Standing By Her Man
There seems to be very few people defending Janay Rice’s decision to support her husband. There’s been much fall-out since footage leaked of her then fiance, NFL’er Ray Rice, knocking her unconscious on an Atlantic City elevator. While many have spoken out about their anger with Ray’s actions, some suggest that Janay who is now married to Ray, should have ended their relationship. Comedian/actress Mo’Nique has a different point of view.
In an interview with Good Day LA, the Oscar Winning actress said:
It was horrible what he did. It was tragic for us to see that happen to that young woman. There is no excuse for that. On the other side of it, there’s the beauty in it because you see this woman saying, ‘I’m going to stand by my husband.’
She also revealed that in one of her past relationship, she and her boyfriend physically fought each other:

That’s sweet & all but really….
Yeah, its Janay’s life and if that’s what she chooses to do, she should at least do it with dignity.
-Stand by your man “as you both admit there is a problem & you both seek help”
-Don’t take the blame or make excuses for him.
-Be an example for other women who may be in this situation and who are abuse victims.
-Be an advocate.
-More importantly, love yourself enough so your child doesn’t wind up like you
Like Mo says, she’s been there and she sounds like a victim too. I don’t see any beauty in that at all. He had no compassion for her when he did what he did, that’s for sure.
This isn’t beauty. It is battered-woman’s syndrome. I love how women are expected to stand by their man no matter what he does. And it is even more disheartening that a woman (Monique) is playing into that idea. Do you know how many women feel the burden of tearing apart their homes if they leave the abuser? But we have people reinforcing the stand by your man logic, instead of saying if she wants help to please leave and get it. SMH Women you don’t get a badge of honor for standing by a man who isn’t treating you well. Please stop falling for that trap. So annoying.
So true,And Mo needs to be careful when she makes statements like that.A confused battered woman can read this and take away the wrong meaning. There is nothing beautiful about staying in a dysfuctional relationship.
Amen and ditto to all the above comments!
