President Obama (SORTA) Denounces Bill Cosby: This country should have no tolerance for rape.
President Barack Obama was put on the spot during a press conference, when he was asked whether or not Bill Cosby’s Presidential Medal of Freedom could be revoked because of sexual misconduct allegations. [FYI: President George W. Bush awarded him the Medal of Freedom in 2002.] Obama stated:
There’s no precedent for revoking a medal. We don’t have that mechanism.
The president declined to address specific allegations against the entertainer because there are pending legal matters, but made it clear about his thinking on the larger issue of drugs, consent and rape.
If you give a woman, or a man, for that matter, without his or her knowledge a drug, and then have sex with that person without consent, that’s rape. And I think this country, any civilized country, should have no tolerance for rape.
