Watch Caitlyn Jenner’s Emotional Speech at ESPY Awards [VIDEO]
Wednesday night (July 15), Caitlyn Jenner accepted the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at ESPN’s annual ESPYs ceremony.
Caitlyn, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, received a standing ovation from attendees after her 10-minute speech. As you know, Caitlyn shared news about her new identity earlier this year during a sit-down interview with Diane Sawyer. On Wednesday night, wearing a floor-length gown by Atelier Versace, she told attendees:
I never wanted to hurt anyone else, most of all my family and my kids.
She stated:
Trans people deserve something vital, they deserve your respect. From that respect comes a more compassionate community.
And added:
If you want to call me names, make jokes and doubt my intentions, go ahead because the reality is I can take it. But for thousands of kids out there coming to terms with the reality of who they are they shouldn’t have to take it.
