Sara Stokes Planning To Sue BET Over Reality Show: They labeled me a man beater!
Sara Stokes’ return to reality TV hasn’t been a pleasant experience. While most of us were introduced to the singer on MTV’s hit show Making Da Band, fans were thrilled when they learned she was returning to the reality TV realm, with BET/Centric’s non-scripted show, From The Bottom Up. theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively broke the news last year, that the show would follow five women who were very successful in the past and lost everything due to substantial circumstances, ranging from controversy to jail time.
Anywho, Sara is allegedly pissed about what she witnessed from the show. In fact, she’s said to be livid with how she was portrayed on the show. We are told that Sara was under the impression that she would be shown in a positive, fair light. However, she says that was not the case. She feels she’s been labeled as ‘man beater‘ and the show focused on negative aspects of her life. According to multiple reports, Sara is lawyering up, with plans to sue BET. Story developing.
Update #2. theJasmineBRAND.com has exclusively located an Instagram comment of Sara, thanking one of the show’s creators/producers, Nicci Gilbert. In in the comment, Sara seems to be appreciative of the show.

Sarah has been locked up multiple times for being ‘bout that life with her husband, so I am assuming they rehashed all of that and didn’t mention the part about how dude was always crazy jealous and put his paws on her first. But, what did she think she was there for? Maybe someone else knows, but I don’t know of too many reality TV shows that feature women of color in positive lights. These shows are about ratings, (which equals money), not positivity. The more ratchet, negative, and catty, the better. Sara got paid to do the show and signed a contract. Once you sign that contract, you are “theirs”. How many times have we heard a reality show participant say “they deleted this scene and that scene out. They didn’t show this or that…” Sadly, it comes with the territory.
Let’s not make excuses for her violent ways. She has been arrested numerous times for violent outbursts, as you earlier stated. Her husband has not been arrested for violent acts against her. She has been violent and abusive toward her husband. She needs to shut up and stop complaining before she is blackballed within the entertainment industry.
Truth Hurts, Sara should be grateful she can start over and do better.
@ Goldie61 Amen! She should be grateful people are even talking about her again–briefly that is..
Since it says the “story is developing”, I imagine that if the lawsuit is actually carried out that the producers of the show will be included as well since that is essentially who oversees the product before it gets into BET’s hand. I’m not sure why people continue to go on reality shows and expect their flaws won’t be exposed no matter if the intent of the shows are to be “positive” and “uplifting”.
