Steve Harvey Cancels Neighborhood Awards
Steve Harvey is pulling the plug on a popular, annual award show. The comedian and talk show host is ending the Neighborhood Awards, formerly known as the Hoodie Awards, according to a report.
The awards, which have been around for 16 years, were created by The Steve Harvey Morning Show and recognized local businesses, community leaders, teachers, churches and local entrepreneurs in Oscars-like fashion and gave the national show local appeal to the 90-plus markets in which it’s broadcast. While Harvey has yet to comment or confirm, a source claims:
This event was launched to make Steve appear more personable to his radio listeners. It helped shape his “guy-next-door image.” His cold nature towards fans ultimately ended his first morning show that aired locally in Los Angeles.
Reportedly, Harvey parted with his manager more than a year ago and decided to stop supporting the event.
Was it time for Harvey to pull the plug on the award show?
