Lindsay Lohan’s $60 Million Legal Battle Dismissed

theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Lindsay Lohan’s $60 million lawsuit filed by her ex-business partner – over a phone app they developed – has been dismissed following years of the two battling it out in court.

Here’s the latest: On June 29th, the New York Supreme Court came back with their decision in the case and sided with the Lohan’s. The judge granted Lindsay’s motion to discontinue with prejudice the entire case. The order notes Fima Potik failed to produce documents pertaining to his claims and explained he could not afford to pay his lawyers at one point.

The case was dismissed with prejudice without the chance to be refiled at a later date. He did deny Lindsay’s attempt for attorney fees and for alleged damages related to a temporary injunction the court put in place prohibiting her from releasing her new app, due to her failure to provide evidence to back up her claims of losses.

Here’s the backstory: Back in 2015, Lindsay and her brother Michael Jr. were sued by their ex-business partner – who they worked with on a phone app called
Spotted Friend – accusing them of stealing the idea and going off and developing their own app.

Fima Potik said that he partnered with the Lohans to launch a phone
app that would give people the chance to see inside celebrities closets.

However, he said that Michael eventually demanded a bigger cut of the company. When he turned down his request, he says they left and started their own app called Vigme.

Potik claimed their project was identical to the app they were all working on. Potik claimed they had had meetings with everyone from CAA, WME and Untitled Entertainment to obtain celebrities to participate with their project. He sued demanding an injunction against Lindsay
from releasing her app + $60 million in damages.

Lindsay and her brother fired back at Potik’s allegations. They explained that the only reason the meetings at the talent agencies happened was due to their connections, NOT Potik’s.

Michael Jr. said that Potik showed him the business materials without having him ever sign a confidentiality agreement nor did he promise to keep “trade secrets” private. Further, all the investors they met with were friends with Michael Jr. and Potik had no part in obtaining these meetings, along with a meeting with Ariana Huffington being a result of them knowing her – not their ex-business partner.

Lindsay said the allegations they stole the trade secrets and idea for the Spotted Friends app to then develop their app Vigme was nonsense and denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

The actress accused the former business partner of fraud, claiming he told her the business was fully funded when she signed on but that turned out to be not true. Lindsay & Michael demanded the suit be thrown out.
