Rev. Run & Wife Land Comedy Series
Rev. Run (real name Joseph Simmons) and his wife Justine are taking their talents to Netflix. The popular streaming service has given a series order to the couple to produce a comedy series.
The untitled multi-camera series would follow a legendary rapper whose plans for slowing down are thwarted when his wife Justine decides to pursue her own dreams. This is their first scripted family sitcom playing characters loosely inspired by themselves. The couple and their family have starred on their own reality series in the past. Run shared the news on social media, writing:
God Showed up. And gave us double for my trouble . Two powerhouse”s behind us .. ABC studios and Netflix.. It’s scripture. When you pray for people God blesses you double! (But GOD.). Check this scripture. Job 42:10 says The Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. … And the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning
The series was originally sold to ABC last year with a put pilot order. Despite it being well received, it was ultimately not ordered to series at the network. Instead, Netflix picked it up. It was created by Jeremy Bronson, the creator of ABC’s current comedy “The Mayor,” who also wrote the script.
