EXCLUSIVE: Nas Hit With 2 New Tax Liens, Owes $359k in Back Taxes!
Nas Hit With 2 New Tax Liens
theJasmineBRAND exclusively reports, Nas (real name Nasir Bin Olu Dara Jones) is facing new financial challenges. The 44-year-old rapper has been hit with two new tax liens.
Both were filed this month, by the state of Georgia. The first accuses Nas of refusing to pay up on $309,671 for the 2013 tax year. The second claims he failed to pay up $50,155.
Both are for unpaid state taxes and the state says that if the balance isn’t paid in full, they will begin to seize his property and assets.
Unfortunately, this isn’t Nas’ first tax dispute. In September 2009 the U.S. Internal Revenue Service filed a federal tax lien against him for over $2.5 million, seeking unpaid taxes dating back to 2006. By early 2011 this figure had ballooned to over $6.4 million. Early in 2012, reports emerged that the IRS had filed papers in Georgia to garnish a portion of Nas’s earnings from material published under BMI and ASCAP, until his delinquent tax bill is settled.
