Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Will Get Paid At Least $20 Million For New Movie
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is getting those checks, literally! According to reports, the 45-year-old actor will make at least $20 million for his new action movie, “Red Notice.” The impressive payday comes in the wake of the surprise success of Sony’s “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” which he starred in, along with Kevin Hart. To date, the film grossed more than $850 million worldwide.
“Red Notice” has been picked up by Universal and Legendary, winning a bidding war for the project.
Rawson Marshall Thurber will direct. “Red Notice” is produced by Beau Flynn through his FlynnPictureCo., with Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia producing through their Seven Bucks Production banner, along with Thurber.
The project is described as a two-hander and comes with a budget between $125 million and $150 million.
Johnson’s first leading film role was in “The Scorpion King” in 2002. For this, he was paid $5.5 million, a world record for an actor in his first starring role. One of his more prominent roles is Luke Hobbs in “The Fast and the Furious” franchise. He hosted and produced “The Hero”, a reality competition series and has since continued to produce TV shows and films through his production company Seven Bucks Productions. He was the world’s highest-paid actor of 2016.
