Idris Elba Will Star As Villain In “Fast & Furious” Spinoff
Idris Elba has landed a key role in the “Fast & Furious” spinoff, “Hobbs and Shaw.” The actor will play the villain. As previously reported, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Jason Statham will star in the film, playing the same characters that they play in the Fast franchise -Luke Hobbs, the Diplomatic Security Service agent, and Deckard Shaw, one of the franchise’s primary bad guys.
The Rock confirmed the news on social media writing,

For years we’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to work together and this film is the perfect one.
Every great hero needs an even greater villain.

Elba is known for his breakout role as Stringer Bell in HBO’s The Wire. His most recent film role was in “Avengers: Infinity War.”
The film is set to be released July 26, 2019.
