Skylar Diggins-Smith & Her Husband Announce They’re Expecting – “Can’t Wait To Meet You!”

Skylar Diggins-Smith is the latest in the group of women who have become mothers while maintaining a career as a professional athlete. The four-time WNBA All Star shared the special news via Instagram on Wednesday; sharing a short video of her listening to the baby’s heartbeat.

With a the view of the sonogram and the sound of the machine beeping, she wrote in the caption including a red heart emoji,

The Dallas Wings star will be welcoming her new child with her husband, Daniel Smith. Smith and Diggins met while attending Notre Dame (2009-2013) as student athletes; the 28-year-old was a key player on the women’s basketball team, while Smith played wide receiver on the school’s football team.

With speculation about when Diggins actually became pregnant, reports claim it’s possible for the basketball player to sit out during the upcoming WNBA season – which usually lasts from May through September.

The couple is going on the second year of marriage.
