Miss Africa’s Hair Catches Fire While Being Crowned
The newly crowned Miss Africa is on fire…literally! Twenty-four-year-old Dorcas Kasinde – former Miss Congo – narrowly escaped injury while being crowned with her coveted new title of Miss Africa 2018.

Fireworks sparked around the beautiful new queen, catching hold of her afro wig, and briefly going up in flames. The host, media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, immediately scrambled to put the fire out.
Social media was also on fire with mixed reactions! Some accused the incident of being a distraction for an unfair win, while others simply couldn’t believe Dorcas was on fire!

As the previous Twitter user mentioned, Miss Congo’s incident is reminiscent of Michael Jackson‘s in 1984. While filming a Pepsi commercial with his brothers, he suffered severe burns from the pyrotechnics onstage. A flame made contact with her, doused in highly flammable curl activator, and was unable to be put out before grazing his scalp.
Along with the crown of Miss Africa 2018, she won $30K and a brand new SUV. Congratulations, Dorcas Kasinde!
