B. Smith’s Husband Has New A Girlfriend As She Continues To Suffer From Alzheimer’s, Girlfriend Moves In Their Home

There are many rules and understandings that can take place within a marriage, but even this one has fans crying foul.

It’s being reported that the husband of former model and famed restauranteur B. Smith, who has been suffering from Alzheimer’s for almost five years, has a new girlfriend…who he has moved into the home he shares with Smith.

Back in 2014, B. Smith bravely opened up and revealed the sad news that she was suffering from the debilitating disease Alzheimer’s, which has currently put a halt to her successful career and made her husband act as her primary caregiver.

Now, her husband Dan Gasby has a new girlfriend and he has decided to move her into the home that he lives in with Smith. Gasby, 64, and Alex Lerner, 53, reportedly met in summer 2017 and went public with their relationship in December 2018 via a Facebook post by Gasby, the same Facebook account he shares with Smith. Fans of Smith’s are livid at Gasby’s current situation and have thoroughly expressed their opinions on his Facebook account, which has prompted Gasby and Lerner to defend themselves.

Referring to current television shows to explain his situation, Gasby said,

“If This is Us, and Modern Family came together, it would be us.”

However, his lighthearted approach to the harsh criticism quickly faded and he firmly defended his decision while taking shots at the future health of his detractors. Gasby stated:

“I love my wife but I can’t let her take away my life! 5-10 years from now when many of you who will have an almost predestined meeting with Alzheimer’s because of genetics, obesity, and a myriad of inflammatory diseases, you’ll be wishing for someone to share moments with and ease the pain of loneliness and despair.”

Lerner revealed that she initially met Smith years before at a charity event. She also decided to clarify her relationship with Gasby, address the cheating accusations that continue to plague their relationship, saying

“We were friends. I didn’t want to go out with a married man.”

She continued to explain the nature of their relationship upon news that she has a room in the house and both she and Gasby care for Smith. Lerner said,

“This is not a man cheating on his wife. What I admire about him is that he takes care of her.”

There is one other tidbit that also had fans of Smith in an outrage…Lerner is white. Gasby immediately took issue with the criticism because he feels that it is rooted in racism, saying

“I have been married to a black woman for 26 years. I have a PhD in black love.”
