Colin Kaepernick & Eric Reid Reach Settlement Against NFL

Activist Colin Kaepernick, Eric Reid Reach Settlement Against NFL Collusion
On Friday, the NFL and lawyers for former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid announced that they have resolution for grievances in settlement against the NFL.
Attorney Mark Geragos released this statement on the pending settlement.
“For the past several months, counsel for Mr. Kaepernick and Mr. Reid have engaged in an ongoing dialogue with representatives of the NFL,” the statement read. “As a result of those discussions, the parties have decided to resolve the pending grievances. The resolution of this matter is subject to a confidentiality agreement so there will be no further comment by any party.”

The NFLPA later issued a statement of their own, expressing Kaepernick will eventually get another “opportunity” to return to the league.
“Today, we were informed by the NFL of the settlement of the Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid collusion cases,” the NFLPA said. “We are not privy to the details of the settlement, but support the decision by the players and their counsel. We continuously supported Colin and Eric from the start of their protests, participated with their lawyers throughout their legal proceedings and were prepared to participate in the upcoming trial in pursuit of both truth and justice for what we believe the NFL and its clubs did to them. We are glad that Eric has earned a job and new contract, and we continue to hope that Colin gets his opportunity as well.”

In late 2017, Kaepernick filed the collusion grievance cast against the NFL after teams denied the quarterback “employment rights.” The filing mentioned teams were basically blackballing Kaepernick, who took the San Fransico 49ers to Super Bowl XLVII, out of a job because of his social beliefs.
“Mr. Kaepernick’s leadership and advocacy for equality and social justice and his bringing awareness to peculiar institutions still undermining racial equality in the United States.”
Reid later joined Kaepernick’s collusion grievance cast in 2018. After joining the collusion cast, Reid spoke out after the Carolina Panther safety was asked to take several random drug test.
“I’ve been here 11 weeks, I’ve been drug tested seven times. That has to be statistically impossible. I’m not a mathematician, but there’s no way that’s random.”

Reid recently signed a new deal with the Carolina Panthers in September, signing for over $20 million for 3 more years. At the moment, the amount of the settlement has not been release.
