Obama Talks Toxic Masculinity – If You’re Confident About Your Sexuality, You Don’t Need 8 Women Around You Twerking
More and more every day, former President Barack Obama’s absence is deeply felt by some Americans. Luckily, for his supporters, he is still just as visible these days as he was when he was in office. While on a recent panel with NBA champion Steph Curry, Obama discussed the act of toxic masculinity—and as usual, he provided some welcomed words of wisdom.
While in Oakland, California earlier this week at an event hosted by his namesake foundation, Barack Obama led a panel discussion to a group of young men, with Steph Curry also in attendance. One of the topics of the discussion was toxic masculinity, leading Obama to give his thoughts with a perfect combination of knowledge and humor.

When asked by a member of the audience about his definition of being a man, and how it relates to the LGBT+ community, Obama said:
“Being a man, is first and foremost being a good human. And that means being responsible, being reliable, working hard, being kind, being respectful, being compassionate.”
The open discussion soon turned to toxic masculinity, and Obama didn’t hold back on his opinions:
“The notion that somehow, defining yourself as a man is dependent on are you able to put someone down instead of lifting them up, are you able to dominate as opposed to support. That is an old view. And a view that, thankfully, I see young people rejecting.”
However, the highlight of the panel was when Obama talked about how male confidence doesn’t come from have several women around you, specifically when they’re twerking:
“If you are very confident, about your sexuality, you don’t have to have eight women around you twerking. I mean, why are you? You seem stressed you gotta be acting that way. ‘Cause I’ve got one woman who I’m very happy with. Right? So…and she’s a strong woman.”
