Madonna Addresses Michael Jackson Allegations ‘People Sometimes Lie. I Don’t Have A Lynch Mob Mentality’
Madonna is breaking her silence on allegations against late singer Michael Jackson.
It’s been a topic of conversation after Oprah Winfrey sat down with two men, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who said Jackson sexually assaulted him in HBO’s Leaving Neverland documentary that aired in January.
Madonna said during an interview,
“People are innocent until proven guilty. I don’t have a lynch-mob mentality, so in my mind, people are innocent until proven guilty. I’ve had a thousand accusations hurled at me that are not true. So my attitude when people tell me things about people is, ‘Can you prove it?'”
She added that she hasn’t seen the docu, but hinted that Robson and Safechuck could be lying.
“I don’t know, I haven’t seen the film. But I guess it would be people recounting actual events – but then, of course, people sometimes lie. So I always say, ‘What’s the agenda? What do people want out of this? Are there people asking for money, is there some kind of extortion thing happening?’ I would take all of those things into consideration. I guess I’ll get around to seeing it. I haven’t seen it yet.”
Meanwhile, Winfrey has said that she’s received lots of backlash from the film, which she knew would come.

She said during an interview,
“When I first saw that documentary, I realized that a lot of people would be triggered by watching it. And a lot of people will not understand what the pattern is. I had done 217 shows trying to get people to understand that it’s not about one person. It’s about the pattern, it’s about the seduction. People call it molestation, but there is a big seducing that goes on… and that was important enough for me to take the hateration.”
Jackson’s daughter, Paris Jackson, was also reportedly afraid the documentary would ruin her blooming acting career.

A source stated,
“She wants to act but knows this could affect those plans…she was in a movie last year but believes the documentary is already scaring directors away because the abuse her father is accused of may put moviegoers off her. It all comes down to marketing. The worry is that any movies she stars in will be derailed if Michael’s abuse scandal is all people think about when they see her on screen.”
