Rapper Tay-K Sentenced To 55 Years In Prison For Murder

Rapper Tay-K Sentenced To 55 Years In Prison For Murder & 30 Years For Robbery
Texas rapper Tay-K will be spending the next 55 years in jail. The 19-year-old, whose real name is Taymor McIntyre, was convicted of shooting and killing a man, Ethan Walker, while robbing his home in 2016.
McIntyre also received 30 years in prison for one count of aggravated robbery and 26 years for two counts of aggravated robbery. He’s also been ordered to pay $21,000 in fines. He will serve the sentences concurrently.
The sentence comes after McIntyre was convicted Friday. Prosecutors accused him of being the mastermind behind the burglary of Walker’s home. While he didn’t pull the trigger, he is said to have recruited the guy who did. The actual killer was sentenced to life in prison last year.
McIntyre, who appeared in court last week on the charges, pleaded guilty for the robbery but not-guilty for the murder. His defense team argued that McIntyre didn’t know his friend would end up killing Walker.
Fans might remember McIntyre’s 2017 single “The Race.” Ironically, he recorded it when he was running from the police and rapped about his fugitive status in the song. It has more than 174 million views on YouTube and popped up on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart at one point.
