Michael Jackson – MTV Removes Singer’s Name From Video Vanguard Award
For those who tuned in to the MTV Video Music Awards Monday, you might have noticed a slight change. The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, which was the award of the night, didn’t mention the late singer at all. Instead, it was referenced as the Video Vanguard Award.
It’s no secret the network faced lots of pressure to remove Jackson’s name. Sexual abuse allegations against Jackson resurfaced earlier this year when HBO premiered “Leaving Neverland.”

While MTV did mention Jackson’s name in the press release concerning the award recently, his name was completely removed from the broadcast Monday.
Still, this year’s recipient, iconic Missy Elliott said the whole name, the “Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award” during her speech.
She also went on to thank Jackson’s sister and her close friend, Janet Jackson.

Many fans made it clear they want the full name of the award in there.
