Sunny Hostin Calls Out Jay-Z: The Suggestion That We’re Past Kneeling Is Ridiculous & Insensitive! [VIDEO]
The View is back and Jay-Z’s deal with the NFL became a topic of conversation. The ladies spoke out about Jay-Z partnering with the NFL as its live music entertainment strategist. His deal came at the height of a boycott against the NFL to take a stand against police brutality. Hostin and the other View co-hosts shared their thoughts on Jay-Z stating that we need to move past kneeling during the national anthem at football games. Kneeling is is how now former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick protested against police brutality, leading him to reportedly be blackballed from the league.

Hostin first called out the rapper and said he lied when he claimed he spoke with Kaepernick before taking the deal. She added,
“The other message he said, ‘We are past kneeling’ is inappropriate in the sense that if you think about it, one of the leading causes of death for young, Black men between 2013 and 2018 is police brutality. And that’s what he was kneeling for. So the mere suggestion that we are past kneeling is ridiculous, and I think it was very insensitive for him to say that. I think what Jay-Z really did in effect was provide the NFL cover for their actions of excluding Colin Kaepernick from employment, and I didn’t like it. He could have done this with Colin Kaepernick and I think that would have been much more powerful.”
