Kim Kardashian Pleads With Texas Governor Not To Execute Rodney Reed, Man On Death Row For Murder
Kim Kardashian has joined the fight for a man named Rodney Reed. Rodney Reed has been on death row since 1998 for the 1996 killing of a woman named Stacey Stites.
His execution is scheduled for November 20, 2019.
Kim Kardashian revealed via Twitter over the weekend that she has been working on Reed’s case.
She begged Texas governor Greg Abbott to step in.
She also retweeted a message of how others can take steps in an effort to stop the execution.
She went on to retweet the details of his case, including the notion that he had an all-white jury, that forensic evidence was false, and that prosecutors didn’t want to test the murder weapon for DNA.
It also suggests that a white officer, Jimmy Fennell, who was Stites’ fiance, is the one responsible for killing her.
Reed was said to be thankful for Kardashian’s support.
DNA testing has been denied in this case. And while three forensic experts provided testimony that the initial time of death is incorrect, proving that Reed killing Stites is nearly impossible, he is still headed for execution. Additional witnesses, including Stites’s cousin and colleague, have also spoken out recently and stated that they were aware that Reed and Stites were in a consensual sexual relationship, even though no one confirmed this during the trial.
As for Fennell’s alleged involvement, his best friend, Bastrop Sheriff Officer Curtis Davis, admitted that Fennell provided inconsistent details of where he was the night of Stites’s murder. He also reportedly threatened to kill Stites while he was applying for life insurance, according to a witness. He later served 10 years behind bars for a sex crime and kidnapping.
