Prince Once Accused Radio Of ‘Trying To Ram Katy Perry & Ed Sheeran Down Our Throats’
Prince was never one to be afraid of speaking his mind before he passed in 2016. The singer, who died at 57, is said to have once criticized the music industry for giving artists like Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran too much radio play. According to reports, handwritten notes from Prince were discovered along with pictures and handwritten lyrics in his Minnesota home.
He wrote that radio stations were
“trying to ram Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran down our throats.”
He added,
“We don’t like it no matter how many times they play it.”
Prince’s estate has been reportedly evaluating everything they discovered in hopes of making money.
We might read more about what Prince had to say in a forthcoming book about his life. He was working on the memoir with a man named Dan Pipenbring three months before he died. Prince suffered an accidental overdose of fentanyl when he passed.
The 288-pager, called The Beautiful Ones, will be released Tuesday (Oct. 29). It comes in partnership with publisher Random House. The publisher said,
“‘The Beautiful Ones’ is the deeply personal account of how Prince Rogers Nelson became the Prince we know: the real-time story of a kid absorbing the world around him and creating a persona, an artistic vision, and a life, before the hits and the fame that would come to define him.”
It will feature original handwritten lyrics, photos, and stories from his childhood.
