Eric Reid Says Colin Kaepernick NFL Workout Feels Like A PR Stunt
Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick is invited to perform at a private workout for NFL teams after three years of being unsigned. However, former teammate and best friend to the quarterback, Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid says on Wednesday (Nov. 13th), he feels the workout “feels like a PR stunt” by the NFL to save face.
“I’ll believe it when I see it. At this point, it feels like a PR stunt.”

Eric Reid reminded reporters that NFL head coaches and general managers typically are traveling or with their teams on Saturdays.
“What decision-makers are going to be able to attend a workout? The other strange thing, I saw there was a report other teams were interested in Colin but they reached out to the league about it. That’s strange.”
Eric Reid continues, adding Colin Kaepernick and his team were given a short time sensitive deadline. According to Reid, the 32-year-old had two to three hours to let the league know if he would attend.
“They didn’t budge on it. They said it’s Saturday or no go.”
Soon after being invited to the private workout, Kaepernick took to Twitter to reveal his excitement. He says as he continues his free agency, he finally gets to share his talents. He writes,
“I’m just getting word from my representatives that the NFL league office reached out to them about a workout in Atlanta on Saturday. I’ve been in shape and ready for this for 3 years, can’t wait to see the head coaches and GMs on Saturday.”

As previously reported, Kaepernick’s team, like Reid, questions the legitimacy of the NFL’s intentions. When questioned on which teams will have access to the former NFL stars workout tape, Kaepernick’s representatives avoided the question saying,
“We can’t tell you that.”
Back in March, both Kaepernick and Reid settled their collusion grievances against the NFL for an undisclosed amount, reportedly less than $10 million in total. Both claim that team owners were denying them the right of employment because of their outspoken views on social inequality.
Reid and Kaepernick were teammates in San Francisco from 2013-16, in Kaepernick’s final season with the 49ers. In his six years with the 49ers, Kaepernick racked up 12,271 passing yards and 72 touchdowns in 69 career games.
