Brooklyn Nets Sign Free-Agent Iman Shumpert Following Wilson Chandler Suspension
The Brooklyn Nets have announced the signing of NBA Free agent, Iman Shumpert on Wednesday (Nov. 13th). According to reports, Shumpert, 29, takes the spot on the roster that has been open because of Wilson Chandler’s 25-game suspension. The Nets announced their new signing on twitter,
“OFFICIAL: The Brooklyn Nets have signed guard Iman Shumpert.”

Chandler was reportedly suspended in August after testing positive for the growth hormone stimulant Ipamorelin.

The newest member of the Nets took to Instagram discussing his dedication to working hard in the gym for another opportunity on the court. He writes,
“I worked my ass off in empty gyms all summer and thru the beginning of the season. You see, character is who you are when no one is watching and while no one cares. I Love This Game. I appreciate this new opportunity….I told y’all I’m around. Let’s get to work Brooklyn Nets.”
His wife, GOOD music singer Teyana Taylor, shared how happy she is after the announcement of Shumpert’s signing. She wrote,
“That’s right baby! Congrats my love! YOU did that!!! I’m so happy for you. Sooooo, does this mean we f*cking in BK tonight orrr? Just kidding! Love you boo! Congrats!”

Shumpert will rejoin Nets’ star guard Kyrie Irving, who he played with on the Cavaliers from 2014-17. He helped the Cavs to their first NBA title in 2016. Irving was rumored to have talked to Shumpert in June about joining him in Brooklyn.
Last season, Shumpert played for the Sacramento Kings and Houston Rockets. From his prior season, he averaged 7.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in 62 games between the two teams.
Congratulations Iman!
