R. Kelly — Joycelyn Savage Says Imposter Made Abuse Claims About Singer, Her Family Speaks Out: We Are Saddened & Disappointed
It looks like the real Joycelyn Savage has stood up.
Joycelyn Savage, 23, shared a video stating that a Patreon account with her name on it was created by an imposter. While someone appearing to be Joycelyn Savage used the account as a platform to detail abuse she allegedly suffered by the hands of R. Kelly, 52, (read about that here) Joycelyn Savage released a video that said the complete opposite. She said she’s still with the singer, speaks with him daily, sees him every two weeks, and will continue to support him while he’s in jail.
She read a statement from her phone and said,
“I am truly tired of all the lies that they are saying about the man we love so much, and our best friend R. Kelly. It has been said that I have left him and he has abused me, and all kinds of nonsense. I have said before, none of it is true. It is a shame how they are treating him. It is so wrong on so many levels, and he does not deserve this. I am not going to be a part of the assassination of R. Kelly’s name, music career, and his character.”
She then referenced R. Kelly’s upcoming trial. The singer is currently in jail on child pornography, obstruction of justice and other charges.
Joycelyn Savage questioned,
“How will we ever be able to get a fair trial anywhere in the world with all of these lies that are being told on him. Please free him and let him come home in peace!”
His trial will reportedly begin next year.
She added that the singer is the best thing that has ever happened to her and his other live-in girlfriend, Azriel Clary, 21.
She went on to say he appreciates the support he’s received from behind bars, including the letters from fans.
“It takes him a while, but he reads them all.”
She also teared up and said she would never call him out. She stopped looking at her phone and said she was now speaking from the heart.
“It’s just really, really sad that somebody would pretend to be me and put it out in the world and say that I’m a victim, I’m brainwashed, I’m a sex slave… Lord have mercy it doesn’t get worse than that…”

Interestingly enough, her family has since released a statement and said they are “saddened and disappointed” that Joycelyn Savage wasn’t the person behind the posts.
The family’s statement reads,
“We’re saddened and disappointed to learn that Joycelyn Savage has said that she was not the person operating the Patreon account.”
“We deeply desired to hear her story and in her own voice outside of the presence of Robert Sylvester Kelly or anyone associated with him. For nearly three years, Joycelyn Savage has not been able to speak outside of a controlled environment created by Mr. Kelly. Her video today was not any different.”
Gerald Griggs added that while Joycelyn Savage is saying it wasn’t her, the claims against R. Kelly are still strong.
“Although we can now verify that it wasn’t her account, the allegations still remain. These are allegations that our own independent investigation found to be accurate and closely match the details listed in four indictments against Mr. Kelly.”
“We are also concerned about who gained access to Joycelyn’s personal Instagram account to mislead the public and her family.”
“But there is no deception in this fact, for three years, Joycelyn’s family has spent the holidays without their daughter. They love her and long to embrace her once again.”
