Restraining Order Filed Against Damon Dash for Selling Liquor Without License

In February 2010, Damon Dash opened a space he called DD172. The venue was used for various events including art shows, music performances and parties. The neighbors in the area often complained of the space’s disruptive nature until Dash supposedly began moving out in June. But apparently, moving out doesn’t mean the party (at DD172) was over for Dash. Allegedly, he continued to occupy the space and sell liquor, which is illegal without a proper license. Last week, his NYC neighbors hit him with some legal action and police arrived and posted restraining order signs on the outside of the building.

Dash and his team were accused of six counts of storing and selling alcoholic beverages without a license. This is not the first time DD172 has been hit with illegal alcohol selling charges. (Last year, similar situations occurred.) Fast forward to the present day, the Village Voice alleges that Dash’s NYC neighbors are asking for “a preliminary injunction from the judge, plus a restraining order.” As of yet, no word from Dash’s camp.
