Amazon Only Shipping Nonessential Items Amid Coronavirus Pandemic
Amazon is now one of the latest companies to feel the impact of the coronavirus.
The company announced that it will prioritize products that are considered an essential need. It sent an email to its sellers and vendors and said the only thing it will green light shipping for
“household staples, medical supplies, and other high-demand products.”
The items now have to be in the following categories: baby product; health and household (including personal-care appliances); beauty and personal care; grocery; industrial and scientific; pet supplies, according to Business Insider.
While other nonessential items can still be shipped, they won’t be prioritized over the essential ones.
The email stated,
“We are seeing increased online shopping, and as a result some products such as household staples and medical supplies are out of stock. With this in mind, we are temporarily prioritizing household staples, medical supplies, and other high-demand products coming into our fulfillment centers so that we can more quickly receive, restock, and deliver these products to customers.”
Amazon added,
“We understand this is a change to your business, and we did not take this decision lightly. We appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the above products for our customers.”
