Rapper Chynna Rogers’ Cause Of Death Revealed As Accidental Overdose [CONDOLENCES]
Update #2 (Friday, April 10): The cause of death for model turned rapper Chynna Rogers has been revealed.
She unfortunately passed away from an accidental overdose, according to reports. The Philadelphia Department of Public Health announced the cause on Thursday (April 9). No further details have been given.
Original Story: Sad news circulated Wednesday night (April 8) in the music and fashion world. A$AP Mob-affiliated model/rapper Chynna Rogers (better known as Chynna) passed away. She was living in Brooklyn, New York at the time of her death. Her manager gave this statement confirmed by Complex:
“I can regrettably confirm Chynna passed away. Chynna was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.”
Discovering her gifts at an early age, Chynna signed to Ford Models at just 14-years-old, releasing singles, “Glen CoCo” and “Selfie” shortly thereafter. She released her long-awaited debut EP, “In Case I Die First” late last year.
Though not confirmed, the cause of death is rumored to be connected to drug abuse. In 2018, she opened up about her addiction to opiates in Pitchfork in 2018.
“I usually don’t express myself or get open about things until it’s in hindsight, and I’m not dealing with it anymore. That’s why I didn’t tell people that I was a drug addict until I got out of rehab. I see a lot of artists decide they want to go through sh*t with their fans, and that’s cool because it gives your fans something to hold onto. But I need to handle it myself first…there are a lot more people dealing with this sh*t than you think, and they should know that someone who looks like me or does this could have the same problem as the fiend on the corner. And it was partially because of the sh*t that happened with Yams, or just how many friends I have lost to different stuff.”
Chynna referred to A$AP Yams‘ 2015 death in that quote, in which he succumbed to an accidental lean overdose. A$AP Rocky commented on her death last night.
“REST IN PEACE BABY GIRL”

A few of Chynna’s celebrity friends also reacted to her untimely passing on social media.
