EXCLUSIVE CLIP: Monica Says Wedding W/ Shannon Brown Was The Best Day Of Her Life – He Will Never Forget Me, I’m The Only Woman He Ever Married

Monica is putting the emotions from her recent divorce into her music. The Grammy-Award winning singer recently split from former NBA player Shannon Brown.

In a clip EXCLUSIVELY obtained by theJasmineBRAND, Monica is in the studio with producers Jermaine Dupri and Bryan Michael Cox  for VH1’s “T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle.” The trio brainstorms ideas for Monica’s highly-anticipated album, and Monica opens up about the direction she wants to take. She says:

“Okay, JD, back in the day we made records about everything from just love and falling in love. But how do we get to what’s happening now?… “

Jermaine Dupri told her she should talk about whatever she wants. Monica continued,

“Maybe this album should feel like history. About how you got so much history with somebody, that you just can’t get rid of.”

She referenced her ex-husband Shannon Brown and said,

“He’s not gonna forget me. I’m the only woman he ever married. I got his only daughter.”

She later told cameras in a confessional,

“I have a lot of great memories in my life. I would be foolish to separate those from some of the things that have happened as of late. They all make me who I am, and this album will speak to that.”

While they didn’t work out, it looks like Monica has no regrets.

“My wedding was still one of the best days of my life. I had the most surrounded by the most love ever. That’s how I want people to feel when they hear the song. That feeling, that moment, make you feel happy.”

She added that she’s expecting fans to be confused about why she wants to make romantic songs despite being on the heels of a divorce.

“I think people will think it’s weird that I want to make ‘in love’ songs right now too… I love love, whether there’s judgment for the public or not.”

She also addressed the fact that no one knows exactly why she filed.

“It’s definitely clickbait, but you’re not considering that there are kids involved and other things that are important. I’ve had to endure every opinion possible because I haven’t told nobody what it was.”

When Jermaine Dupri said even he was curious about the details of the split, Monica told him,

“You should’ve called me… I’m sure it had to kind of be like, sad, ’cause y’all was part of the whole thing from the beginning.”
