LeBron James Dishes About Nearly Signing Deal To Join Dallas Cowboys During NBA Lockout Season [VIDEO]
NBA superstar, LeBron Jamessays he nearly signed a deal to join “America’s ” team, the Dallas Cowboys during the 2011 NBA lockout. In a recent interview, the Los Angeles Lakers star reflected on Michael Jordan’s ESPN 10-part series, “The Last Dance” which detailed Jordan mid-NBA career hiatus by joining the Major Leagues. James alongside his longtime business partner, Maverick Carter says that Jordan inspired the former NBA MVP to consider leaving basketball during the lockout. LeBron says:
“I had no idea how long the lockout was going to be, and myself and my trainer Mike Mancias, we really started to actually train to be a football player when it came to October, November. We started to clock our times in the 40, we started to add a little bit more in our bench presses and things of that nature. We started to add more sled to our agenda with our workouts.”
He continues,
“Mike kept talking about, ‘It’d be great to go down to Irving, Texas.’ … ‘It’d be great to go down there to Dallas and suit up for the Cowboys.”
Carter chimes in by revealing James still has his contract from the Cowboys. He says,
“I know that he got a contract from (Cowboys owner) Jerry Jones that he framed and put in his office.”
James and over 6 million viewers made ‘The Last Dance,’ the most watched ESPN documentary.
