Trey Songz Criticizes Black Lives Matter Street Renamings: We Got MLK Boulevards In Every Hood & That Changed Nothing
Singer Trey Songz has strong opinions on politics and race relations in the country. Amid protesters’ graphic response to the racist murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd – Trey Songz took to the streets with the emotional song, “2020 Riots: How Many Times.”
But Trey Songz recently hinted at how he feels about the renaming of 16th Street in Washington D.C. to Black Lives Matter Plaza. The 35-year-old singer tweeted:
“Naming streets is cool but don’t forget we got a Martin Luther King Dr. in every hood & that changed nothing. Keep pushing”

Even D.C.’s chapter of Black Lives Matter organization slammed the city’s mayor, Muriel Bowser for their street mural:
“This is a performative distraction from real policy changes. Bowser has consistently been on the wrong side of BLMDC history.”
