Mary J. Blige Was ‘Really Pissed’ When Diana Ross Flicked Lil Kim’s Breast At The 1999 VMAs
It’s been 20 years since that infamous moment when Diana Ross flicked Lil Kim’s breast at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1999, and Mary J. Blige, who was on the stage at the time, revealed that she wasn’t happy about it.
During an appearance on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” Mary J. Blige said,
“I was embarrassed for Kim. I was really pissed when that happened ’cause that’s my little sister, my friend. Kim is courageous.”
She went on to say that Lil Kim, along with other female rappers like Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, and Cardi B deserve nothing but respect.

“[Lil Kim] is gonna do what Kim does, so I think we all should respect it like we should respect Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj, and Cardi [B]. Respect Lil Kim. This is what they do, respect them. It’s what they do.”
Lil Kim spoke on the moment last year and said,
“That’s legendary. The boss. I love Diana Ross. I always say if I did a movie about my life, she would play my mom.”
